Chungmugong Yi Sun-shin was a famous general in an Asian kingdom. He was extremely loyal and of prowess. At the time when the nation was in danger, Yi Sun-sin built a powerful navy and created the iron armored ‘turtle ship’, making indelible contribution to Korea Kingdom for dominating around sea areas. ‘Wherever iron turtle ships sail on, the sea areas belong to me.’ said Yi. Yi was excellent at ‘overtaking majority with the minority’. Under the leadership of Him, Korean navy defeated over 330 enemy warships with only 12 ships, gaining the great triumph of Battle of Myeongnyang. To this day, the legend of this Asian general still lives on in the people’s hearts.
+Global based ultimate
+Good Poking abilities
-Not a good hitter as other marksman
-2nd skill requires precision.
-No burst damage.
Heavenly Vow (Passive) – Yi chooses his longbow or glaive to attack according to the distance between him and the target. Using skills or the glaive to attack will impose the bleeding effect on the enemies, injuring them (dealing true damage to moving enemies) and slowing them down. A naval fleet will be summoned to the allied base, increasing 100 pts of HP for the base. The hero can board the turtle ship beside the base periodically and get buffs.
One-wave Sweep – Wields the glaive and slashes forwards while jumping backwards, dealing physical damage to enemies along the way and lowering their movement speed. When Yi is on the Turtle Ship, the ship will dash towards the target, dealing physical damage to the first enemy it collides with and other nearby enemies and stunning them.
Blood Floods – Shoots a piercing arrow with full strength, dealing physical damage to enemies. The arrow’s attack range will enlarge with the time of powering up. Fully powered-up arrow will impose two layers of bleeding effect on the enemy. Prioritize leveling up this skill as this will be your bread-and-butter.
Mountain Shocker – Orders the naval fleet to launch three-wave attacks of fire arrows. Each wave of attack will deal physical damage. If there are enemy units within the base area, the effect of self-defense will be triggered, strafing forward area of the base with a cloud of arrows.
Tooth of Greed – +75 Physical Attack / 25% Lifesteal / Frenzy : When HP drops below 20%, the hero will receive an extra 10% physical lifesteal. This will gives you a good sustain in laning. A decent item for most marksman so they can harass the opposing laner hard.
Scarlet Phantom – +30 Physical attack / +40% attack speed / +10% Critical Strike Chance / Frenzy : Critical strikes will increase the hero’s attack speedy by 35% and critical strike rate to 10% that lasts for 2 seconds. This will improve your overall arsenal in game.
Swift Boots – 15% attack speed / +40 movement speed.
Blade of Despair – +130 Physical Attack / +25% attack speed / 10% Critical Strike chance / Despair : deals an extra 15% damage to an enemy in abnormal state (stunned, knocked airborne, transformed, disabled).
Wind Chaser – +60 Physical Attack / +45% Physical Penetration. Get it if you are against several tanks else go for Thor’s Sting.
Thor’s Sting – +30% Attack speed / +8% Movement Speed / +20% Critical Strike Chance / Lightning: After every 5 basic attacks, the next basic attack will deal 125 magic damage to 3 enemies. / Every time the lightning is cast, your movement speed will be raised by 10% for a short duration.
What I really like in this hero is his teamfight presence from his ultimate. Getting an assist is not hard for Yi Sun-shin as he can hit several heroes from his range. When using him in laning, all you have to is to poke your opponent and all day and make sure that you will always interrupt him while he is regenerating from heal.
Laning – Just poke your opponent hard. You have a pretty long ranged, skill and ultimate that you can use without leaving your safe zone. Don’t go for all-in using your first skill unless you know that you can kill your target. Just take his life little by little by cancelling his regen as well as using your first skill to penetrate him from distance. While using such kind of hero, you will never laning a difficult phase for you.
Teamfight – As an AoE damage, I consider him an A that can deal damage from distance and wide range. His mobility will also gives you a good position in clash. What I don’t consider his peak is his basic attack. Actually as a main marksman, I love using hero with a good passive/skill that improves much basic attacks such as Miya, Bruno, Clint, and Layla. So if you are going to trades on that heroes make sure you are in good position as you can’t win in most trades with them using basic attacks. Of course that is not the arsenal of Yi but it doesn’t mean that he is useless marksman. Just make sure you have additional hitter in your team before using Yi as you can’t rely in his damage when it comes to basic attack compare to other marksman.
