Legend has it, that at the end of the western desert, there lies a beautiful and rich country. This fabled land is where Phyrus is from. From his very first day at the magic academy, Phyrus’ extraordinary control over the arcane was clear for all to see. Gord, who was teaching arcane arts at the time, saw a little of himself in Phyrus, and began to teach the most coveted secrets of the arcane to his inquisitive pupil. However, Gord came to regret his actions, disturbed by the negative energy that began to radiate from Phyrus, and his violent tendencies. Eventually, Phyrus started combining the ancient flame spells from his desert homeland with arcane power to create a unique form of arcane flame magic. Gord felt he had betrayed himself, allowing his pure arcane wisdom to be tarnished by these wild flames from an unknown land. Enraged, Gord attempted to remove the power of flame from Phyrus’ body. Phyrus resisted with all his might, and half of the academy was destroyed in the ensuing battle. At the end of the fracas, Gord was left feeling somewhat proud that Phyrus’ arcane flame magic could hold up against his own pure arcacne power. In the end, Phyrus left the academy, and Gord began working on creating a flying machine fueled by arcane energy, intent on searching the world for a new apprentice.
+Top tier in Crowd Control based on his release date.
+Good teamfight presence
+No Cooldown skill
-Low in mobility
Arcane Flame (passive) – Condenses arcane flame over 20 seconds, after which your next “Burst fire” or Searing Torrent” can be cast without cooldown.
Burst Fire – Detonates raging flames, dealing 300 (+140% Total Magic Power) magic damage to enemies in the specified location and reducing their movement speed by 80% for 1.5 seconds. Give emphasize in this skill over Searing Torrent as this will be your bread-and-butter. Though both skills have crowd control, Burst fire has faster cooldown which you can use for effective spamming.
Searing Torrent – Phyrus unleashes a torrent of flames forward, knocking the enemy back and dealing 375 (+120% Total Magic Power) magic damage. Targets at the end of the torrent’s range will take 125 (+40% Total Magic Power) additional magic damage.
Hellfire – Summons hellfire at a specified location, spewing random flames continuously in the specified area. Each hit deals 300 (+130% Total Magic Power) magic damage to the target and knocks them up briefly. This what makes this hero the best when it comes to crowd control. Not only to mention it can do crowd control in AoE but also a continuous airborne is really a pain in the game.
Holy Crystal – +90 Magic Power / Unique: +25% Magic Power / Unique Passive-Exterminate: After a skill hits a target, magic attack will immediately increase 15%. The next skill damage will terminate this effect. This effect can last up to 3 seconds with a built-in cooldown time of 10 seconds. The primary focus in my build is to empower his damage. To think on a little cons in this hero compare to other mage is being the burst damager. With this set of equipment I believe it will unleash the full potential of Valir. Also almost all important elements for mage are present to Valir such as cooldown, crowd control and AoE teamfight presence. So if there is something to max out, it would be magic damage for burst.
Blood Wings – +150 Magic Power / +150 HP / Unique Passive-Nirvana: Adds 2 HP for every 1 magic power added.
Devil Tears – +65 Magic Power / Unique: +40% Magical Penetration / Unique Passive-Spellbreaker: When HP is higher than 70%, the unique bonus effect is increased by 30%.
Glowing Wand – +75 Magic Power / +5% Movement Speed / +15% Magical Penetration / Unique Passive-Scorch: Burns the target for 3 seconds when the skills hit, dealing 2%/2.5%/3% of the target’s current HP as magic damage, at least 10.
Immortality – +800 HP / +40 Magic Resistance / Unique Passive-Immortal: Resurrect in 2 seconds after dying and get 15% HP and a shield that can absorb 300 – 1000 of damage. Shield last for 3 seconds. Cooldown for this effect is 180s. I’m thinking to one more damage-based item but I think survival is more important at this point. This is where your crowd control is more important than your damage as your marksman will do the job for late game trades. So for survival issue, Immortality will gives you what you need.
